The anti-hunting organisations have certainly intensified their efforts to stop spring hunting. No doubt, this is the first step to stop hunting altogether in Malta.
Somebody has already suggested that the police ought to withdraw all guns from hunters. It is a pity that these organisations never tried to stop dogs barking, cats in our streets being run over, vehicles with modified silencers to make them sound noisier and litter in our streets. Surely this would make our country more attractive for tourists?
The arguments to stop spring hunting are not valid as much more noise is made by fireworks. The birds that fly over Malta in spring are the same birds that have passed over during September.
To my knowledge, people can enjoy the countryside at any time of the year as long as it is not private land.
