The Waterfront Hotel’s front office senior supervisor Marvic Agius placed second runner-up for Hotel Worker of the Year during the Star Service Awards organised by the Malta Tourism Authority (MTA).

The awards give public recognition to all those who work directly or indirectly in the tourism industry.

“Marvic has been working at The Waterfront Hotel for the past 15 years and is an asset to the company,” said general manager Mario de Celis.

“She was nominated for the award by management with the support of her colleagues. She goes out of her way to meet and exceed guests’ expectations, is a great team leader and leads by example. This is also reflected in the personal appraisals Marvic gets from guests even on TripAdvisor.”

The Star award is aimed specifically at exemplary workers within the hotel sector who excel both in the way they perform their duties and their general attitude towards work. The Hotel Worker of the Year award is a staff-driven award, whereby hotel employees of any grade can nominate a fellow worker who they think deserves the award.

During this 10th edition of the Star Awards, six Stars were awarded for excellence in service, while finalists received recognition.

This was the result of approximately 7,000 nominations received from tourists during 2014.
