DJ Zadig, also known as Day is Dying, will be giving a three-hour set in Malta next month.

The artiste made his mark on the rave scene in the 1990s until five years of mixing indus, hardcore and acid music made him long for a change of scene.

No longer identifying himself with the scene, the artiste turned to techno, a much more basic but also wider genre of music.

While working at Matos DJ Store, the famous Bastille music shop, Zadig met Mathieu Berthet, an independent sound engineer, a record distributor and an expert in electronic music.

This encounter turned into a friendship, helping Zadig regain interest in creating music and helping him take the decision to create his own home studio.

Influenced by spatial and dreamlike atmospheres

Berthet also introduced him to the label Plastic Rec for the release of his first Detroit-oriented single Vision. Zadig makes a distribution deal with Syncrophone, which eventually releases Dark Nebula in 2010.

Meanwhile, the artiste started collaboration with major figures from the international techno and Parisian house music scene such as John Thomas and DJ Deep Didier Allyne.

Thanks to these encounters he manages to start Construct Re-Form, a label initially created to release his own productions. After being playlisted by Marcel Dettman, the label gets developed further, almost immediately welcoming three talented DJs known as Antigone, Voiski and Birth of Frequency and turning Zadig into a label manager.

Currently, Zadig has embarked on another new project called Ars Mechanica, a label influenced by spatial and dreamlike atmospheres in the footsteps of Johannes Volk with Exploration Record. Today, he is known for favouring live performances to DJ sets, a philosophy, which he instils even in those around him.

Zadig will be performing a three-hour set on May 9 during an event organised by Avant-Garde Movement and Unfocused at The Playground, Paceville. Also on the line-up are Brian James, Owen Jay and Michael Glanville. Tickets are available from all New York Best outlets and by calling on 9982 8770 or 7989 2706.
