The 3/11 Regiment RMA (T) Association embraces Maltese former servicemen who served in the 3/11 Regiment Royal Malta Artillery. The association was founded in 1972, soon after the disbandment of the regiment, and has been continuously active for the past 42 years.

As in previous years, our association, in collaboration with the Birżebbuġa local council, will be holding a memorial service on April 9 at 9.45am, near the marble plaque at Wied il-Buni, Birżebbuġa, which commemorates six brave soldiers of the 10 LAA Bty – 3rd Regiment Royal Malta Artillery who were killed in action at a Bofors gun position sited on the rocky foreshore of the main Kalafrana Road, Birzebbuġa, in 1942.

These were practically the very last casualties of the war in Malta.

Students from St Benedict College’s Birżebbuġa Primary School will be participating in this service. The locality’s mayor and other members of the council as well as representatives of the George Cross Island Association, will also be in attendance. Trumpeters from the band of the Armed Forces of Malta will be sounding the Last Post.

The public is invited to attend.
