Leafing through the pages of a brochure sent by the hunters’ lobby illustrating reasons why we should vote Yes, I came across a diagram showing, in percentage form, the time allotted for spring hunting every year.

What surprised me was that spring hunting takes place during only two per cent of the year.

So, I said to myself, surely they must be a greedy, selfish lot deciding to make all this fuss and resorting to intimidation for a lousy two per cent.
