English clubs found the going tough in the Champions League this season.
Liverpool failed to make it past the group stage while Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City all fell by the wayside in the last-16 round, last month.
Indeed, wins came at a premium for the four clubs from the Premier League.
Liverpool only managed one from six outings in Group B and Manchester City won twice in eight matches.
Arsenal had five wins and Chelsea four, both Londoners exiting the tournament after having played eight games.

• Everton scrape through against Dynamo Kiev 2-1 in the first leg of their Europa League, last 16, match at Goodison Park.
• West Bromwich boss Tony Pulis wins the managerial award for February while Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane wins the players’ prize for the second month running.
• At Hampden Park, Celtic beat Dundee United 2-0 to claim the Scottish League Cup.
• After Chelsea’s elimination, Arsenal and Manchester City also bow out of the Champions League – the Gunners to Monaco (3-3) on the away goals rule, while the Citizens lose to Barcelona 1-3 on aggregate.
• In Kiev, Everton go down 2-5 (4-6 over both legs) to Dynamo in the Europa League. Everton’s exit means that, for the first time since 1993, there is no English team in the quarter-finals of the two European competitions for clubs.
• Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger calls for the ‘outdated’ away goals rule to be scrapped.
• At Wembley Stadium, Bristol City beat Walsall 2-0 to lift the Johnstone Paint Trophy.
• A significant increase in broadcast and commercial revenues added to the introduction of new financial control rules by UEFA and the Premier League, have led top-flight clubs to register a combined pre-tax profit for the first time in 15 years, according to Deloitte.
• In a friendly international Scotland, at home, defeat Northern Ireland 1-0 (Berra).
• In an Under-21 friendly, England win 1-0 (Carroll) away to the Czech Republic.
• In Euro 2016 qualifying, England remain unbeaten, defeating Lithuania 4-0 (Rooney, Welbeck, Sterling, Kane) at Wembley. Tottenham’s Kane scores on his debut.
• Premier League clubs have agreed to share at least £1bn of their record television rights deal with the rest of English football.
• Wales record an impressive 3-0 win at Israel (Ramsey, Bale 2) in a Euro 2016 qualifier.
