The family of 21-year-old Justin Pace, who died in Zurrieq on Sunday while out with friends, is appealing for information from the authorities about the results of the police investigation and the autopsy.

The autopsy has established that the 21-year-old died of “natural causes” stemming from heart complications, sources told Times of Malta.

The young man’s death did not result from a heart attack or thrombosis as was being reported in some sections of the media, the sources said.

Nor was it the result of a push, as members of his family had initially said.

The police on Sunday said that the Mr Pace passed away after falling and hitting his head on the ground in the area known as Fuq il-Ġibjun (Nigret) in Żurrieq.

At the time, Mr Pace was with his girlfriend and two male friends.

Meanwhile, Justin’s heartbroken family are being kept completely in the dark by officials about what occurred on Sunday.

The family told Times of Malta that this morning, the police told them that the inquiry was still ongoing in spite of reports that said otherwise.

Moreover, two family members were given conflicting versions regarding the CCTV footage: one was told that it was too grainy to make out what happened while another that the footage did not capture the incident.
