Over 5,000 students sat for their English language listening examination on March 21. As in previous years, there were several sessions throughout the day and each session had different texts. After the exam, the students made the usual comments about their readers. The ones I heard varied from “we had an excellent reader” to “our reader had a terrible accent”.

Surely the time has come for the Sec board to start prerecording the texts and to have all students sit for the exam at the same time as happens for the written papers. Only that way can the students claim that their exam was a fair one.
