Women’s national team coach Mark Gatt yesterday announced his squad for the upcoming European Championship Group B preliminary round qualifiers which will be played in Malta.
Gatt’s girls will be playing three matches between next Saturday and April 9 against Andorra, Georgia and Faroe Islands.
Malta will be playing all their three matches at the Tedesco Stadium. One other tie will be played at the National Stadium in Ta’ Qali.
Group A is composed of Moldova, who will also make their debut in the championship, Luxembourg, Lithuania and Latvia.
The opening round of matches will be played at Hamrun on Saturday. Georgia and Faroe Islands clash in the opener at 11am and Andorra-Malta follows at 2.15pm.
Match-day two is scheduled for Monday. Malta take on Georgia at 11am and Faroe Islands play Andorra at 2.15pm.
The decisive Day Three, on April 9, sees Malta in action against Faroe Islands. Andorra face Georgia at the National Stadium.
Both matches start at 11am.
The preliminary round group winners go into the pot, along with 38 other nations, for the main qualifying group stage draw on April 13. The final will be played in The Netherlands in summer 2017.

Under-15 friendly
• The Maltese girls U-15 team, coached by Dorianne Theuma, will be playing a second friendly match against Romania this evening at the Centenary Stadium (kick-off: 18.00).
On Monday, Malta U-15 beat Romania 1-0, the match-winning goal coming from Keeva Camilleri in the opening half.
