Hanover: Relegation-threatened Hanover are likely to be without forward Artur Sobiech for the last eight games of the season after he tore ligaments in his right knee in training on Tuesday, the club said. The 24-year-old Polish international, who has scored twice in 19 league games this season, sustained the injury in a challenge with a team-mate. Sobiech only returned to training on Tuesday following another knee ligament injury.

Birmingham: Five offers have been made for an interest in either Birmingham or parent company Birmingham International Holdings Limited, receivers have confirmed. Ernst & Young, who are in effective control of BIHL, are assessing the bids in relation to the Championship club or its parent company. Ernst & Young were asked to take control of BIHL in February to help stop the infighting between the board and this month started investigating the affairs of the company.

Hawk-eye: British-based company Hawk-Eye will provide goal-line technology system for the women’s World Cup in Canada this June. FIFA has announced the decision, the first time that goal-line technology has featured at the women’s tournament. Hawk-Eye provides the camera-based system which has been used successfully in the English Premier League this season.

Di Maria: French champions Paris Saint-Germain are ready to offer Manchester United a huge transfer fee for the signature of striker Angel Di Maria, reports said yesterday. The 27-year-old Argentine has struggled to settle since his £59.7m record breaking move from Real Madrid last summer but Daily Mirror said PSG are willing to break the bank and offer Di Maria an escape route from Old Trafford.

Le Tissier: Former Southampton star Matt Le Tissier will swap Soccer Saturday for Countdown to become the fourth professional footballer to appear on the Channel 4 show. Le Tissier, 46, announced on Twitter he has passed his contestant audition and will be filming this autumn. The eight-cap England international has previously appeared as the show’s ‘Dictionary Corner’ guest, memorably solving a numbers round puzzle which had foxed both contestants – including an eventual series semi-finalist – and resident maths expert Rachel Riley.
