Over €2,500 in cash were stolen from a supermarket in Ibrag Road, Swieqi at about 9.15pm yesterday at a spate of hold-ups continues.

The police said an armed man entered the shop and demanded money from the cashier.

The thief was handed about €2,50 0and fled the scene. No one was injured.

A magisterial inquiry is under way.

Police investigations are under way. Up to eight hold-ups have been reported this month. Most were small, but €4,000 were stolen from an insurance office last week.
