The Maltese islands celebrated 100 years of aviation today with a flypast organised by the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association Malta, the Tourism Ministry and Transport Malta.

The flypast was originally planned to take place in February.

The formation departed from Luqa, flew over several disused airfields in Malta and Gozo which in the past 100 years played a role in history, especially during the World War II.
