Seminar and workshop provider One Spirit Personal Development will be addressing the growing issues of workplace stress during an event themed More to Life, to take place on April 11.

Jackey Backman, the company’s senior director, has been consulting local corporation executives on topics ranging from emotional intelligence skills, as well as offering Neuro Linguistics Programming certification with over 50 locally certified NLP practitioners in Malta.

Based on the insight gained, One Spirit is launching its More to Life campaign and evening event, designed to help people learn to be more effective and avoid stress by balancing the five key areas of life and learning to use the power of their mind, combined with hands-on techniques and strategies to get to, through and over any life situation, whether at home or work.

Paralleled with Social Dialogue Minister Helena Dalli’s release of a new book on dealing with workplace stress, Backman will be spearheading One Spirit’s initiative.

“We’ve been educating the Maltese on how to better use their brains and their minds successfully for over 10 years and this is the perfect time to address the issue of stress in people’s lives, especially since the Maltese government is taking action as well,” Backman said.

A survey conducted in 2012 revealed that over 70 per cent of Maltese respondents believed workplace stress would rise over the next five years and recent evidence among EU members states has classified exposure to psychosocial risks as the main workplace health and safety risk (Eurobarometer Working Conditions, 2014).

Having worked with countless individuals and local businesses, Backman said there is evidence that living a high-performance life doesn’t have to be stressful.

“The problem isn’t that people cannot live a high-performance life by having great relationships, vibrant health, tons of energy, earn as much money as they want, all the while keeping their spiritual values intact. They can. The problem is that they have to learn how,” Backman said.

“Malta has no other option but to adapt to the pace. Helping people do so in a way that is respectful to their overall well-being is what we love doing most. We absolutely love teaching people how they can use what they already have right on their shoulders to be the best they can,” she added.
