Rock quintet Lucy’s Last have released their second single, titled The Otherside.

Describing the track as a break away from the old school rock and roll that characterised their debut track Jenna, the band describe their new work as “reminiscent of Sunday sermons of old”, hinting at personal struggles and distorted perceptions.

While still retaining the bass-heavy sound, Lucy’s Last have made their trademark: The Otherside brings a touch of melancholia to the band, taking the tempo down a notch and, in the band’s words, being “more conducive to swaying than headbanging”.

The track is complemented by a video created by the band’s vocalist Mia Scerri and shot in various locations that bring to mind typical Maltese scenery and traditions. But, before too long, the seemingly serene – if desolate – landscape gives way to a series of apocalyptic events that may or may not be biblical.

The ending is worthy of a horror short with music and visuals married to good effect. The track can be viewed on www.youtube.com/watch?v=GwU1d8I1PQs.
