Fined: Hull City have been fined 30,000 pounds for failing to control their players during a 1-1 draw against Leicester City this month. The fine relates to an incident in the 68th minute when Hull players surrounded referee Jonathan Moss after defender Alex Bruce was booked for a challenge on Leicester’s Riyad Mahrez. Hull appealed against the charge but an independent commission found them guilty.

Dynamo: Dynamo Kiev have been ordered to close part of their stadium for next month’s Europa League quarter-final against Fiorentina after racist behaviour by fans towards Everton players. The Ukrainian side has also been fined 15,000 euros by UEFA for the setting off of fireworks and for insufficient organisation.

Vogts: Former World Cup winner Berti Vogts has been appointed as a technical advisor to the United States national team. The 68-year-old won the 1974 World Cup with West Germany as a player and as coach guided the united Germany the Euro 96 title. Vogts has also been in charge of Bayer Leverkusen, Kuwait, Scotland, Nigeria and, until last year, Azerbaijan. As the US’s technical advisor, Vogts will oversee the development of players in Europe.

Good start: Vahid Halilhodzic began his reign as Japan coach with a solid 2-0 win over Tunisia in a friendly in Oita yesterday. The Tunisians looked set to spoil the Bosnian coach’s opening night as they held a much-changed Japanese side at bay until the hour mark when Keisuke Honda and Shinji Kagawa came on to spark problems in the final third.

Kone: Fears over Everton striker Arouna Kone’s knee injury have been allayed after scans revealed it was not serious. The Ivorian was substituted late in Sunday’s 2-1 win at QPR and with the 31-year-old having a history of knee problems, missing 14 months after one such injury last season, there was concern over his latest issue. However, the club have confirmed tests on the player determined no long-term damage.

League Two: Accrington Stanley vs Newport 0-2.
