Not less than 4,499 reptiles are known to have been imported into Malta since 2011, Environment Minister Leo Brincat said in Parliament on Monday.

Answering a PQ by Nationalist MP Mario Galea, he said all but one of the reptiles had been imported from EU countries. The highest importation figure was last year’s, at 1,380, followed by 1,344 in 2011, 1,261 in 2013 and 514 in 2012.
