Relegation-troubled Tarxien Rainbows will have to do without Mouhamed Soly for their next three Premier League matches as yesterday the Senegalese striker was handed a hefty ban by the Malta FA Disciplinary Commissioner following an end-of-match incident, last week.
The players were leaving the pitch at the Tedesco Stadium after Balzan had beaten Tarxien 3-2 when Soly was spotted hitting out at an opponent as they approached the tunnel.
Soly, who skips the matches against Birkirkara, Naxxar and Mosta, had given the Rainbows a 2-1 lead seven minutes after half-time but Balzan hit back with two Bojan Kaljevic goals to pile more pressure on their opponents who are bottom of the league standings.
Another club in the red zone, Zebbug Rangers, had three players receiving a one-match suspension yesterday.
Thomas Paris, Yessous Camilleri and Mattias Mucciardi will be out of Rangers’ next match, against Floriana, on April 4.
Sliema Wanderers will have to do without Mark Scerri against Qormi, also on April 4.
The Blues midfielder was yesterday handed a one-match ban after accumulating four yellow cards.
