A pizza maker jumped a barricade and hand-delivered a pizza to Pope Francis during his visit to the southern Italian city of Naples last Saturday, as he was being greeted by cheering crowds on his Popemobile.

A video posted online on Sunday, showed pizzeria owner Enzo Cacialli personally handing the pizza over to the Pope, who accepted the gift before driving off in his Popemobile.

Cacialli's family is no stranger to serving up dough and sauce for the global elite. Back in the 1990's, Enzo's father personally made a pizza pie for President Bill Clinton while he was on an official visit to Italy, according to media reports.

The Naples-style thin crust pizza topped with yellow cherry tomatoes and buffalo mozzarella, in reference to the Vatican flag, read 'W il Papa' or 'Long live the Pope'.

According to media reports, the Pontiff told the pizza man, "I'll have it later."
