The photos show the unacceptable litter that anybody passing though upper Church Street, St Julian’s (near Spinola gardens) has to put up with daily. The litter bin is used by two restaurants nearby. Photos have been e-mailed to St Julian’s local council a number of times, requesting that appropriate action is taken against the contractor. The e-mails have, however, not even been acknowledged. And the contractor has not been brought to book. The situation is deplorable.

Danger playground

When will repairs in the playground by the Sliema tower take place? This pitiful situation has lingered for months. Is the local council waiting for a child to be hurt before taking action? Shame on all.

Third World standards

It is disgusting that Spinola Bay, close to the Love monument and all over the place, should be full of detergent plastic containers instead of proper uniform red buoys that are used in every civilised country. It is a disgrace that thousands of tourists taking photos of this beautiful bay should export this cheap culture. This eyesore must be be removed. It is also worth pointing out that Spinola’s Fishermen’s Wharf has been unlit for a few weeks. The authorities should ensure the situation is remedied as soon as possible.

Dumping eyesore

This is what one would see on the Mġarr main road leading to Tarġa Gap, above Wied Għajn Rihana. Ironically, Magħtab civic amenity site is in the background and most of the material is recycable (tyres). We should start getting rid of the litter in our countryside before considering attracting quality tourism. Did anybody mention enforcement?
