Manuel Vella graduated Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Malta in November with his thesis entitled Sameness: Heidegger and Wittgenstein in a Post-Metaphysical Situatedness.
He started his research under the supervision of the late Prof. Peter Serracino Inglott and continued under the direction of Fr Mark Sultana of the University and Prof. Paola-Ludovika Coriando (co-editor of the Heidegger Collected Works and the journal Heidegger Studies) of Innsbruck University.
Vella seeks to establish a theoretico-philosophical frame-work for a re-evaluation of objectivity by showing that the correspondence theory of truth is still a legitimate fundamental principle of contemporary metaphysics.
Vella is now working on the publication of his research in international academic fora.
Vella’s research was partially funded by the Strategic Educational Pathways Scholarship (Malta), which is part-financed by the EU – European Social Fund under Operational Programme II – Cohesion Policy 2007-2013, ‘Empowering People for More Jobs and a Better Quality Of Life’.
