An inaugural event open to all Australian alumni of St Aloysius College Malta was held in Sydney. It was organised by the St Aloysius College Malta and Old Aloysians Sydney (SAMOAS) founder James Vella-Bardon, helped by Stephen Gatt, Pierre Fenech and Mick Ripard.

Dinner was held at The Oaks Hotel in Neutral Bay, followed by a few rounds shouted at the pub. As expected, many fond memories of Jesuit college days were cheerfully traded.

Six plucky stragglers also ensured that the event lasted until pub closure at 1.30am.

Following the success of this event, another SAMOAS gathering is scheduled to be held in September or October.
