Karen Balani graduated from the University of Sheffield, UK, with a MA in Early Childhood Education. Her dissertation explored how children aged five to six could communicate through their drawings.

Through her study, Balani found drawing to be a powerful tool through which children can communicate and express their emotions, thoughts and interests. Balani embarked on the course after being awarded a STEPS scholarship, part-financed by the European Social Fund under Operational Programme II – Cohesion Policy 2007-2013, Empowering People for More Jobs and a Better Quality of Life.
