Obituaries

BARON – MARY GRACE of Żabbar, passed peacefully away on February 27 after a long illness. Daughter of Carmel Baron and Antonia (Nina) Lia, Mary Grace emigrated to Detroit, the US, in 1954. She earned her PhD in Psychology and became Professor Emerita at Wheaton College, Massachusetts. She returned to Malta often and maintained lifelong bonds with family and neighbours there. Predeceased by her brother Charles and sister Joanne, as well as, very recently, by her husband Geoffrey Moran. She is survived by her son Andrew, her step-sons Matthew and Sean, her granddaughter Merrimac, her sisters Josephine and Rosemary, many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends in the US and Malta. Lord, grant her eternal rest.

BEZZINA. On March 19, at Mater Dei Hospital, ROSE MARIE née Pace, of Valletta, residing at Baħar Iċ-Ċagħaq, aged 82, passed peacefully away, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her husband Albert, known as Robbie Pace of Pace’s Schoolwear Valletta, her children, Anna and her husband Saviour Attard Baldacchino, Marisa and her husband Joseph Cauchi and Leonard and his wife Therese, her grandchildren Karen and her husband Paul Farrugia, Paul and his girlfriend Jeannine, Francesca and her boyfriend Nicky, Andrew and his wife Lara, Christine and her husband Anton Magro, Keith and his fiancée Charmaine, Sarah and her boyfriend Daniel, Rebecca, and Rachel and her great grandchildren Emma, Clara and Luca, her carer Maricris, Richianne widow of her brother Guido, Arthur Bezzina and his wife Agnes, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital today at 1.30pm for St Mary of the Angels church, Baħar Iċ-Ċagħaq, where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 2pm, followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, will be appreciated.

BORG. PHILIP (founder of Żebbuġ Rangers FC), of Żebbuġ, passed away in Montgomery, Alabama, the US, on February 28, aged 88. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife Dorothy née Chircop, his son Dr Joseph Philip Borg and his wife Renée, his daughter Shirley Penna, wife of Frank, his grandchildren Chelly, Jennifer, Kimberly and Josie, his sister Rose and her husband Joseph Caruana, nephews, nieces and friends. Mass praesente cadavere will be held tomorrow at 2.30pm at Żebbuġ parish church, followed by interment in the family grave at Sacred Heart cemetery, Żebbuġ. Lord grant him eternal rest.

He leaves to mourn his loss his beloved wife, Barbara, née Martin, his daughters Diana and her husband Paul, Alexandra, and Yvette and her partner Massimo, his grandchildren Trevor and his wife Janet, Hayley and her husband Riccardo, Gianluca, Andrea and his fiancée Roberta, his great-grandson James, his sister Doris and her husband Ron, his in-laws and their respective families, nephews and nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends. HARRISON. On March 21, at Mater Dei Hospital, JANE née Selvagi, widow of Theodore Harrison, passed peacefully away. She was comforted by her son Marcus, his partner Connie and their friend Joanna. She leaves to mourn her loss her goddaughter Tanya and her family, her nephews and niece from her late brother William, and her friends and loved ones. Mass will be held on Tuesday at 9.30am at Stella Maris parish church, Sliema. Lord welcome Jane into your arms.

MICALLEF. On March 21, at St Vincent de Paul residence, ELLEN, of Sliema, aged 82, passed peacefully away, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her husband Charles, her sons Phillip, Mark and his wife Sharon, her grandchildren Veronica and Megan, her brothers and sisters, in-laws and their families, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves St Vincent de Paul residence tomorrow at 8am for St Gregory the Great parish church, Sliema, where Mass præsente cadavere will be celebrated at 8.45am, followed by interment in the family grave at Santa Maria Addolorata cemetery.
