Following my letter ‘Dangerous pavement’ (The Sunday Times of Malta, March 15), I received an e-mail from the Senglea local council which stated: “Regarding the fixing of the open hole in front of Block 5A, contractor has closed it off once again.”

The photo shows that the wooden planks are re-positioned and secured together with another plank that was placed across. However, this massive hole is not completely covered, and there is no light at night to indicate such danger.

To add insult to injury, we have been informed by the local health and safety office that the law does not allow them to get involved in this case as the contractor is not presently doing any work on this building.
