Match-fixing: Twelve players and officials were held for questioning over alleged match-fixing following a game in the Moldovan championship on Friday. The Moldovan National Anti-Corruption Agency questioned the 12 following the conclusion of the clash between Dacia Chisinau and Dinamo-Auto Tiraspol. Two people were arrested yesterday in connection with alleged match fixing, according to media reports. The questioning came after league leaders Dacia had beaten Dinamo-Auto, currently bottom of the country’s top division, 6-2.

Torres: A bullet header from Fernando Torres set up depleted Atletico Madrid for a 2-0 victory over Getafe yesterday as the champions boosted their hopes of finishing third in La Liga. Torres powered home a Koke free-kick after three minutes to claim his first league goal since returning to his boyhood club in the January transfer window from Milan. Koke also played a part in the second goal before half-time when another free-kick was flicked on by Raul Jimenez and Tiago nodded the ball in.

OFI Crete: OFI Crete president Nikos Machlas labelled the Super League as a “wretched championship” after the crisis-hit club were forced to withdraw from Greece’s top flight yesterday because of mounting debts. OFI have repeatedly broken league rules since the start of the season by failing to pay players and the situation forced former Italian coach Gennaro Gattuso to quit in January. “The masks have slipped off... OFI is the easy victim for other clubs to stay up comfortably,” Machlas said.

A-League: Wellington Phoenix stayed top of the Australian A-League after title rivals Adelaide United and Melbourne Victory thrashed out a 2-2 draw. Both had the chance to take over at the summit but they remained snapping at Wellington’s heels. Melbourne inched up to second place, a point behind Wellington. Adelaide stand a point further back in fourth place.

Banned: Bradford City have banned three supporters following separate incidents during the club’s FA Cup quarter-final tie against Reading. The club will also ban a supporter who attempted to take fireworks into the Madejski Stadium for the replay and have reaffirmed their pledge to ban for life the fan arrested for alleged racial abuse of Reading winger Garath McCleary if he is found guilty.
