Mr JOSEPH DELIA, BA (Hons.)(Econ.), FCIPD and Miss JOSEPHINE SCERRI

Our marriage took place on Wednesday, March 19, 1975, at St Julian’s parish church. We have been blessed with a remarkable son Jürgen, his loving wife Laura and two adorable grandchildren, Nicky and Steffi. We thank the Lord for our family and for the wonderful years we have lived together.

Obituary

GERMAN. On March 18, at Loyola House, Naxxar, Fr GEORGE GERMAN, SJ, aged 95, went to meet the Risen Lord, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his brethren in the Society of Jesus in Malta, Uganda and Kenya, relatives and friends. Mass præsente cadavere will be celebrated today at 8.30am at Loyola House, Naxxar, followed by interment at the parish cemetery in Naxxar. No flowers by request but donations to the Jesuit Province Infirmary for the aged and sick Jesuit Fathers and Brothers’ will be greatly appreciated. May he rest in the peace of the Risen Lord.

MAMO. On March 17, at Mater Dei Hospital, EVAN, of Birżebbuġa, aged 62, passed away peacefully. He leaves to mourn his loss his children and their respective families, grandchildren, his sister and her family, aunts, cousins, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow at 1.30pm for St Peter’s parish church, Birżebbuġa, where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 2.30pm, followed by interment in the family grave at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Puttinu Cares Children’s Cancer Support Group, Rainbow Ward, Mater Dei Hospital, will be greatly appreciated. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

SAMMUT. On March 16, at Mater Dei Hospital, JOHN, aged 87. He leaves to mourn his loss his nephews and nieces, Joseph, Tony and his wife Josette, Josette and her husband Manwel, May and her husband Raymond, and Doris and her husband Joseph, his great nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. The funeral cortège leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow at 2.45pm for the parish church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary, Naxxar, where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 3.45pm, followed by interment at Naxxar cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Puttinu Cares Foundation, Mater Dei Hospital, Rainbow Ward, Tal-Qroqq, Msida, will be appreciated. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

SPITERI. On March 18, at Mater Dei Hospital, PAUL of Sliema, (former caretaker, Sliema Primary), aged 79, passed away peacefully, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife Tessie, his sons Mario and his wife Leontine, Marco and his wife Romina and Noel and his wife Amanda, his grandchildren Laura, Dean, Maxine and Solange, his brothers and sisters, in-laws, nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow at 1.30pm for Sacro Cuor parish church, Sliema, where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 2pm, followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Id-Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, will be greatly appreciated. The family regret they are unable to receive visitors at home. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

SPITERI. On March 18, VINCENZA, widow of Charles, went to meet the Risen Lord, aged 90, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She is mourned by her daughters Marion and her husband Saviour, Josette and her husband Charles, and Marthese and her husband Raymond, her grandchildren Audrey and her husband Christian, Mark and his fiancée Sasha, James and his wife Letizia, Glenn and his fiancée Kim and Deborah and her great-grandchildren Andreya and Matthias. Mass præsente cadavere will be said today at 3.45pm at the old church of St Venera. No flowers by request but donations to Id-Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi. Lord, grant her eternal rest.

VELLA. On March 18, ĠUŻEPP, aged 93, from Fontana, Gozo, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his children Dolores and her husband Robin, Carmen and her husband Joe, Marie and her husband Nick, Frances and her husband Ġanġu, Jessie and her husband Joe, Joe and his wife Jane, Paul and his wife Frances, Terry and her husband Frank, his sisters Stella and Pawla and their families, his grandchildren and great-grandchilden, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Gozo General Hospital today at 3.30pm for the church of the Sacred Heart, Fontana, where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 4pm followed by interment in the parish grave at Santa Marija Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Arka Foundation. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

VELLA. On March 17, at Mater Dei Hospital, THERESA (Tessie), née Seychell, widow of Victor, aged 76, entered eternal life, comforted by the rites of Holy Church and surrounded by her family. She leaves to mourn her loss her children Fr Sandro, Provincial of the Carmelite Order, Sr Marisa of the Augustinian Sisters, Carmelo and his wife Simone, and Anna Maria and her husband George Harrington, her grandchildren Andrea, Eliza, Matteo, Jürgen and Aidan, her brother Mike Seychell and his wife Mary, in-laws, nephews and other relatives. The funeral cortège leaves Mater Dei Hospital today at 1.30pm for the Our Lady of Mount Carmel parish church, Fleur-de-Lys, where Mass præsente cadavere will be celebrated at 2pm, followed by interment in the family vault at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. Lord, grant her eternal rest.

Feast of St Joseph

The King’s Own Band of Valletta will take part in the festivities in honour of St Joseph in Rabat, today.

Band marches will be followed by a symphonic programme under the direction of Mro John Galea at 6pm.
