I wish to express my frustration about the rent situation with regard to post-war property.

It is a fact that the pittance which is being paid by the tenants is an injustice to the landlords. This does not reflect the property’s commercial value.

I believe that the government of the day is in duty bound to ensure that morality and legality converge in a situation that has now been dragging on far too long. So much so that it was a Labour government that had decided to transfer the ċens into rent.

I have recently inherited such property from my late husband and, to add insult to injury, my taxation for the causa mortis ran into thousands of euros.

In my opinion, this is morally wrong and against human rights. Such landlords are being denied what is rightfully theirs. In the meantime, the tenants are being awarded unjustified enrichment at the expense of the landlords... which is unconstitutional!
