First let me congratulate all political parties for their initiatives to encourage people to go for green energy through the introduction of a number of schemes involving the installation of PV panels.

I presume that such aid schemes were mainly aimed or intended to help those people who are mostly in need. Unfortunately, they proved futile to this category of people because anyone who decides to install PV panels under one of the government schemes would still have to fork out a few thousand euros for a small installation, which people who fall under this category of ‘mostly in need’ do not have.

So, I have a very simple proposal to make. The government will pay for the whole of the installation and then the amount that would have been paid by the customer would be recuperated by the government through the generation of electricity.

For example: the customer/resident and the government will share the income of the generated electricity 50/50 for, say, five years, after which period the resident will become the sole owner of the system and will thereafter continue solely benefiting from all the generated electricity.

In this way, the government would be giving its help to those who need it most.

Needless to say, this suggestion would have to be elaborated on more profoundly in order to make it viable for both the customer and the government.

Even PV panel sellers should consider taking part in such an initiative and introduce selling schemes that would resemble sales on hire purchase. These already exist and are applied to many other products such as cars, white goods, etc.

I hope that the schemes will be rectified to help the poor!
