BOV dresses down for Appoġġ

Over 1,500 BOV employees had a dress down day to raise awareness and collect funds for the Appoġġ Children’s Fund.

Roberta Agius, services manager at Appoġġ, explained the challenges of making ends meet when they receive requests for children’s care facilities.

“The requests are legitimate, however, the Children’s Fund committee study each request well to ensure that money will be available for a lot of children rather than approving an expensive request for just one child. This means that more children would be able to benefit from this fund. We try to intervene as soon as possible, but availability of funds remain our major hurdle. We depend a lot on benefactors for donations,” she said.

Go’s Women’s Day gift for staff

Go recently celebrated International Women’s Day by presenting a gift to every female staff member at the company.

Hippo project at seminary

The Archbishop Seminary in Rabat will be saving an estimated 1,475 litres of water per day thanks to an innovative Hippo project, sponsored by the HSBC water programme, Catch the Drop.

The Hippo is a simple and low cost measure to reduce water consumption. Once installed in the cistern, Hippo bags save approximately three litres of water each time a system is flushed.

With HSBC support, all the facilities were retrofitted with Hippo bags. All secondary students also received household packs to extend the impact of the project to their homes.

World Water Day is celebrated on Sunday.
