BONELLO. On March 14, at Mater Dei Hospital, MARY, nèe Cutajar, widow of Dione, went to meet the Risen Lord, aged 96 years, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She is mourned by her son Charles and his wife Ruth, her daughters Kay and her husband Cecil Fiorini, Mardion and her husband John Bisazza, her grandchildren Karen and her husband Simon, Carlo and his wife Anne Marie, Sarah and her husband Trevor, Marita and her husband Claude , Alberto and his wife Kristel, Colin, her great-grandchildren, her sister Maggie and her husband Edgar Azzopardi, her sister-in-law Imelda Galea, relatives and friends. Funeral Mass præsente cadavere will be said tomor­row, Tuesday, at 9am at Jesus of Nazareth parish church, Sliema, followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. Lord, grant her eternal rest.

MONTEBELLO. On March 14, at Mater Dei Hospital, JOSEPH, of Sliema, aged 94, passed away peacefully, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his children Dorsann, wife of Adrian Bencini, Walter and his wife Josette, Nathalie and her partner Joseph Mamo, Marcelline and her husband Charles Pearsall, his grand­children, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital today at 1.15pm for Sacro Cuor parish church, Sliema, where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 2pm followed by inter­ment at Santa Maria Addolor­ata Cemetery.

Requiem Mass

Today being the trigesima die since the death of JOE SULLIVAN, Mass for the repose of his soul will be said at 7pm at St Patrick’s church, Sliema. The attendance of relatives and friends will be appreciated. Parking will be available in St Patrick ground.

Talk on Maltese balconies

The origins and development of Maltese balconies will be the theme of a talk by former ambassador Adrian Strickland who has been researching this field for decades.

The event will feature his 40-year collection of photos illustrating the range and contrasting architectural styles of local balconies, from their early fortification function to becoming an essential part of everyday life.

The talk, which is being organised by Flimkien għal Ambjent Aħjar, will be held tomorrow evening at 7pm at the Corinthia Palace Hotel in Attard.
