I urge Senglea council to take note of a number of e-mails I sent about two big holes dug in the pavement of Bastion Street. These were meant to serve as a concrete foundation for pillars to support overhead balconies.
The job was abandoned and these holes were simply covered with wooden planks which are out of place and in terrible condition, creating a danger to the public.
These ‘temporary’ planks should be replaced and properly secured. They should also be illuminated with an emergency light at night.
To be fair to the council, I did receive an e-mail on March 10 saying that it had informed the competent authority about this situation.
However, it has been over two weeks since the report was first filed and whoever is responsible does not seem to care.
