John Simpson, former chief editor of the Oxford English Dictionary (OED) will deliver three talks on the following topics as follows:

‘The OED: a short history of an institution’ tomorrow from 6.30 to 8pm; ‘From paper to electronic dictionaries: is it merely a change of media?’ on Wednesday from 6.30 to 8pm; and ‘A new dictionary of Maltese: what are the issues?’ on Friday from 6.30 to 8pm.

The talks will be held at Dar l-Ewropa, 254, St Paul Street, Valletta.

All are welcome to attend.

The serpent, moon and the underworld

A public lecture entitled ‘The serpent, the moon and the underworld’ concerning ancient man’s concept of his past, present and future existence, will be given by Horatio Caesar Roger Vella on  Friday at 6pm at the University’s Gateway Building Hall E (left wing), Msida campus.

Vella is a professor at the University’s Department of Classics and Archaeology and the lecture is organised by the Malta Classics Association, of which he is the founding president.
