The Dance Workshop presents its 16th annual dance production, DanceStructures, at St Agatha’s Auditorium in Rabat on Saturday and next Sunday.

Dance, especially classical ballet, has an affinity to architecture. Both are mainly dependant on the importance of line and aesthetics.

Classical ballet is reliant on past traditions and at the same time technique has evolved so that lines are longer and more conforming with modern trends.

The same can be said of architecture – the traditional gave way to the stark minimal trends one sees today, but without losing the basic principles of design and aesthetics. Both arts are about shapes, forms and use of space.

Amazing structures from all over the world are the source of inspiration for this production – Casa Batllo in Spain, The Piano House in China and Topkapi Palace in Turkey.

Thirteen buildings give life to 13 dance pieces by choreographers and teachers from The Dance Workshop.

Tickets are available from The Dance Workshop studios in Guardamangia.
