Archbishop Elect Charles Scicluna today launched the coat of arms he will be using as the media were given details of his installation ceremony on March 21.

The new coat of arms is based on the traditional Scicluna coat of arms but Mgr Scicluna added a yellow rose.

Addressing a news conference this morning, he said the red background represented the Passion of Christ and the white horse St John’s vision of Christ as a white steed. The moon represented light even in darkness.

The Latin motto Fidelix Et Verax, means Faithful and Truthful.

The coat of arms includes the pallium, the symbol of a Metropolitan Archbishop.

The installation ceremony will start in Lija and head on to Mdina. The last Archbishop installation ceremony from Lija to Mdina was that of the late Archbishop Mikiel Gonzi 70 years ago.

The cortege leaves the Lija Parish church at 8.30am to the Sanctuary of our Lady of Good Health in Rabat.

It will then head towards the Dominican church in Rabat, from where Mgr Scicluna will be driven to the St Paul Church, also in Rabat.

At 9.50am, the Archbishop Elect will visit Ta’ Giezu Chruch before heading to St Mark's church.

He is expected to arrive at the Mdina main gate at 10.30am. and walk towards the Cathedral. Due to the limited space inside the Cathedral, a large screen has been set up in the main square to enable the public to follow the proceedings.
