NASA launched an unmanned Atlas V rocket last night from Cape Canaveral, Florida.

The United Launch Alliance rocket will place a four-satellite constellation into elliptical orbit that is part of NASA's Magnetospheric Multiscare (MMS) mission.

The mission consists of four identical spacecraft which will conduct plasma physic research in the magnetosphere.

Scientists hope the mission will give them a better understanding of magnetic reconnection, a phenomenon that occurs when magnetic fields come together, break apart, and come together again, according to reports.
