CALLEJA. On March 9 CARMELO (Nenu ta’ Kustanz) of St Venera, residing in Ħamrun, aged 83, passed away peacefully, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his great loss his only son Mario, Rosette, widow of his son Joseph, his grandchildren Emmanuel, Carlos and Madline, his sister Rita of Australia, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital today at 8am for St Francis church (Villambrosa), Ħamrun, where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 8.30am, followed by interment at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. CARUANA CURRAN. On Tuesday, March 10, at St James Hospital, Sliema, Judge MAURICE CARUANA CURRAN, aged 96, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church and surrounded by his family. He leaves to mourn his irreparable loss his beloved wife Ċettina, widow of Dr Joseph Meilak, his daughter Simone and her husband Kenneth Mizzi, his son Paul, his step-children Stefan Meilak and his wife Lucienne, Erika and her husband Ivan Vella, his grandchildren, Matthew and his fiancée Ludovica, Simon, Jonathan and his wife Sara, his step grandchildren, Bea, James, Jonathan, Chrissa and Andrew, his sister-in-law, Mara, widow of his brother Joe, his brothers and sisters-in-law and all the Psaila family, his nephews and nieces, other relatives and numerous friends. The funeral cortège leaves St James Hospital, Sliema, tomorrow at 1.15pm for the Jesuits’ church, Merchants Street, Valletta, where Mass præsente cadavere will be celebrated by His Eminence, Cardinal Prospero Grech at 2pm, followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to a noble cause would be appreciated. The family thank the staff at Casa Antonia, Balzan, for their dedication and care during his stay at the home. They also thank the doctors and nurses at St James Hospital for making his last days so comfortable. His family are grateful for his extraordinary life and are comforted in the knowledge that he is now with the angels and his first wife Kate, his beloved daughter Louise and his step grandson Matthew. CASSAR PULLICINO. On March 11, at Mater Dei Hospital, CELINE, née Bonett, widow of Ġuże, aged 83, passed away peacefully, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her irreparable loss, her children Victor and his wife Wendy, Rachel and her husband Peter, Louis and his wife Joanne, her grandchildren Rebecca, Alexia and her husband Kurt, Amy, James, Luisa and Edwina, her great granddaughter Ana, her brothers Jean, Frederick and Ramon, her sister Germaine and their respective families, other relatives and friends. The funeral cortège leaves Mater Dei Hospital on Saturday, March 14, at 8am for the parish of the Annunciation, Balzan, where Mass praesente cadavere will be celebrated at 8.30am followed by burial at Santa MariaAddolo­rata Cemetery. COPPINI. On March 10, LOUIS, aged 85, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church and surrounded by his family. He leaves to mourn his irreparable loss his beloved wife Blanche, his sons John and his wife Caroline and Adrian and his wife Rachael Pia, his grandchildren, Justin-Francis and his fiancée Karina, Luciano, Mattea, Kyra and David, his brother-in-law Saviour and his wife Eileen, Helen, widow of his brother-in-law Joseph, his nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. The funeral cortège leaves Mater Dei Hospital today at 8.30am for Tal-Ibraġ parish church where Mass præsente cadavere will be celebrated at 9am followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. GIUSTI. On March 11, NAZJU, aged 92, departed peacefully to meet the creator and his wife Nena, whose life he devoted to, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his sister Lonza, residing in America, his daughters, Rita, her husband Michael, Marianne, her husband Twanny, Doreen, her husband Joseph, his grandchildren Dennis, Robert, Joseph, Stephanie, Charlene, Wayne and Neil, great-grandchildren Luca and Leon, family and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital today at 7.45am for Christ the King parish church, Paola, where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 8.30am, followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. HORNYOLD-STRICKLAND – ANGELA, Dowager Countess della Catena, of Sizergh Castle, Westmorland. Died peacefully on Sunday, March 8, aged 86. Garage sale

Talk postponed

The talk ‘Ħal Millieri revisited’ by archaeologhist Anthony Bonanno, which was due to be held this evening at Din l-Art Ħelwa’s premises in Valletta, has been indefinitely postponed.
