I wouldn’t blame anyone who may have followed Xarabank (March 6) and who may have started to believe that there are two Nationalist parties and not one.

Listening to Mario de Marco’s conciliatory and positive tone during his replies to questions from the panel and the audience, I couldn’t help comparing them to the most negative and confrontational tone of Simon Busuttil’s speeches.

In fact, very recently, Busuttil was quoted as saying that the role of the Opposition “is to fight the government”.

The big problem which I see for the PN is that while Busuttil has the backing of the shadow cabinet for his confrontational style of doing politics, de Marco seems to be on his own in the shadow cabinet in terms of his conciliatory style, although he probably enjoys more support than Busuttil among non-diehard PN voters.
