Archaeologists have unearthed a mass grave from medieval times hidden in the cellar of a busy Paris supermarket, discovered during renovation work.

Some 150 skeletons were found, set in three parallel rows, neatly arranged in separate burial plots.

They're set head to tow, males, females, adults and children.

Archaeologists think that whatever happened to them happened at the same time, like an outbreak of Bubonic plague.

The supermarket stands where the cemetery of a 12th Century hospital once stood.

Archaeologists have until March 20 to research the skeletons' history .. after which the supermarket continues with its renovation work.

They're carrying out DNA testing and carbon dating ... and scrambling -- beneath the feet of busy Paris shoppers -- to dust off the centuries to reveal more answers.
