Malta Enterprise is still receiving requests for help from Maltese companies operating in Libya, including in sectors such as medical, aviation, insurance and electrical equipment.

Answering a parliamentary question by Ċensu Galea (PN), Economic Affairs Minister Chris Cardona said the Maltese companies included those that had kept a form of presence in Libya with the hope of being able to resume normal operations when the situation was more favourable.

Malta Enterprise was helping these companies to find new markets in Africa, as well offering them a number of fiscal measures.

Dr Cardona said the companies that had approached ME were full of praise for the help they had received and its speed.

There may have been requests logistically and materially impossible for the government to help with, such as the payment of dues by Libyan private and government quarters, but there had only been a few such requests.
