Raisa Falzon, 18, wears her motto – ‘Never give up’ – tattooed on her right arm. On March 19, 2013, the girl was out with her father and friends when she started complaining of a severe headache. Her father took her to hospital, where staff realised she had suffered a haemorrhage. She fell into a coma and remained comatose until December 2013, when she finally woke up. Her younger brother, Miguel, was sitting next to her at the time. Seeing him, she lifted her right arm and placed her hand on his face. She is now working hard to relearn movement and speech, and her motto, together with the support of family and friends, is driving her forward.
