Budget airline Ryanair launched a customer charter to mark its 30th birthday last week.

The charter comprises an eight-promise plan, which includes pledging to provide the lowest fares, best destination choice and to make safety top priority.

It also includes promises to ‘always get better’ – the name of the airline’s three-year revamp programme – to be transparent, innovative, reliable and to give its passengers an enjoyable travel experience.

Ryanair is trying to improve its reputation of charging for many facilities and putting price before comfort.

We want to celebrate our 30th birthday

Ryanair also announced a series of initiatives to be rolled out over 2015, including new cabin crew uniforms and aircraft interiors and updated in-flight meals.

An interesting development is a ‘hold the fare’ feature, which allows customers tp pay €5 to keep ticket prices steady for 24 hours.

It will reduce airport check-in fees from €70 to €45 and missed departure fee will go down from €110 to €99 from May.

Customers will be able to cancel flights within 24 hours of booking, at a cost of €15 per segment.

Ryanair.com will offer real time fare comparisons, destination reviews and a different travel insurance product.

Seats with more leg room and new Boeing Sky Interiors will also become available.

Ryanair CMO Kenny Jacobs said: “Europe’s customers have always chosen Ryanair for our low fares and great choice of routes and through our Always Getting Better programme, we are continuing to improve our customer experience.”

CEO Michael O’Leary said: “We want to celebrate our 30th birthday by launching our customer charter and the second year of our Always Getting Better plan as we grow to carry 100 million customers in 2015.”
