President Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca paid a visit to the headquarters of the Victoria Scout Group.

She toured the premises and met various officials of the group and members of its sections.

The President praised the scouts’ efforts to live up to the scout law and promise to think of others before themselves.

She said this mentality was needed to safeguard peace in the country and to ensure those in need find a community that understands and supports them.

She thanked the leaders for their sterling work towards the children and youths that are members of the group.

Group treasurer Gino Mizzi presented the President with a €1,000 donation for the Community Chest Fund. Group chairman Michael Grech presented her with a copy of the book on the group’s history and group scout leader Lorrie Saliba presented the President with a miniature campsite made from silver.

Scout Association of Malta chief commissioner Leslie Bonnici was also present.
