The 40th running of the Gozo Half Marathon, organised by the Xaghra Youth Centre, is being held on April 26.

The event is the largest and longest-standing athletics event on the sister island, attracting athletes from different categories with over 400 taking part last year.

This year participants can compete in the half marathon (13.1 miles) and eight-mile runs.

There will also be mountain bike events on the day and young runners may opt for the two- or four-kilometre races, depending on ages.

All races start at 9.15am from Xaghra Square.

In all, the organisers will be distributing 89 trophies to the best performers on the day.

The organisers are supported by the Ministry for Gozo, Xaghra Local Council, Malta Tourism Authority, San Michel and Gatorade.
