The power lines and cables dangling at shoulder level in front of Nenu’s Takeaway in San Ġwann do not seem to be anybody’s business. Nor, we seem to be told, they pose any danger of electrocution to pedestrians. Not even when it rains! The traffic mirror mounted on a pole at the same junction, installed after a fatal accident, is, we are also assured, at the correct angle to be functional. Even if it does not appear to be so.

All of this rectitude must be the reason why the San Ġwann local council, Enemalta, the traffic board and whichever other authority is involved have done absolutely nothing, for several months, to rectify this manifest danger and eyesore.

This complete lack of action leads me to suspect that the information we are being givenis indeed correct.

That there is no danger to pedestrians and drivers.

God forbid I may be wrong.

Does it take another tragedy for action to be taken?
