A Delta Airlines plane skidded off a runway while landing at New York's La Guardia Airport and crashed through a fence this afternoon.

The MD-80 went off the runway at around 11.10am local time, Port Authority of New York and New Jersey spokesman Joe Pentangelo said.

The plane was carrying 125 passengers. No injuries were reported.

The plane ended up resting in the snow with its nose through a chain-link fence. Passengers were seen getting off the plane from an over-wing door and trudging through the snow.
