For the fourth year running, Cyprian Dalli, president of Triathlon Malta, attended the European Congess for triathlon federation heads which this year was held at the University of Loughborough, England.

The assembly is an annual gathering where the achievements of the previous competitive year are analysed and projects for the upcoming season thoroughly discussed.

In Loughborough, the congress focused on younger talent and the coaching frameworks of national federations.

In England, Dalli also held talks with the Development Board of the European Triathlon Union (ETU) which helps with the development of the Malta Youth Triathlon Academy.

The steady progress and constant improvements at the academy were lauded by the ETU Board and plans for the new season were also established.

Meanwhile, Dalli also found time to discuss various matters of interest with fellow officials from the Mediterranean Triathlon Federation.

Dalli holds an executive post in this organisation since its foundation in 2013.

There were calls for a stronger racing calendar in the Mediterranean and for better ways of cooperation between countries in the region.

“It is important to attend these meetings and keep Triathlon Malta involved,” Dalli said.

“We have to make our counterparts in Europe aware that the sport in our country is getting better and stronger. It is also key for us to discuss, understand and learn new ways of doing things from other countries and then try to implement their suggestions and ideas into our operation.”

At present, Triathlon Malta officials are working on the 2015 racing calendar with new incentives and extra races likely to be introduced.
