Seminar on successful succession

‘Passing the Baton: Successful Succession in Family Businesses’ is a research study that uncovers the antecedents to successful succession; investigates leadership aimed at perpetuating the family business across generations; and explores the lived experiences of key stakeholders.

A model of successful succession, drawn from literature review and mixed research methodology, using the perspectives of various stakeholders, and applicable to owner-managed, sibling partnership, and cousin collaboration family businesses, is constructed.

An initial quantitative study was conducted, amongst 380 current family business leaders in all business sectors in Malta, for an initial and broad exploration of the antecedents to successful succession.

Further understanding of successful succession was also attained using semi-structured interviews in a qualitative research study. Semi-structured interviews were carried out in the jewellery sector.

This free seminar is being held today at 6.30pm at St Martin’s Institute Foundation, in Hamrun. E-mail infodesk@stmartins.edu for more information.
