Punished: UEFA has ordered Dynamo Kiev to close part of its stadium for the upcoming Europa League match against Everton in the Ukrainian capital on March 19. UEFA have ordered section 21 of the Olympic Stadium to be shut for the match as punishment for ugly crowd disturbances that took place during Dynamo’s clash against Guingamp in the previous round. The match had to be halted for 15 minutes after fighting broke out in the crowd.

AFC boss: Sheikh Salman Bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa looks set for a second term as president of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC). Al Khalifa is the only candidate for the presidency and for the FIFA vice-president ex-officio position, the AFC announced yesterday. The Bahraini first took office in 2013, replacing Mohamed Bin Hammam. Al Khalifa’s election for a second term is set to go unchallenged when the AFC meets for its Ordinary Congress on April 30 in Bahrain.

Fined: UEFA fined Roma and warned their forward Adem Ljajic yesterday following incidents during last week’s Europa League last-32 game against Feyenoord. Roma were fined €10,000 for kicking off late at the beginning of the game and Ljajic was warned for provoking the Feyenoord fans after scoring a goal. Feyenoord face disciplinary proceedings over their organisation of the match after fans hurled objects on to the pitch. The game was delayed for over 10 minutes.

MLS action: Major League Soccer is on the verge of a players’ strike as talks on a new collective contract have failed to bring a deal with just two days until the start of the new season. The players’ union (MLSPU) and club and league representatives were locked in talks late Tuesday at the offices of the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service in the capital but no deal was reached. Negotiations are expected to go down to the wire today as the two sides seek to craft a new five-year collective bargaining agreement.

Sepe: Italian goalkeeper Luigi Sepe has signed a three-year contract extension with Napoli that will keep him tied to the Serie A club until June 2019. Napoli were keen to tie Sepe to a long-term contract, with his previous deal expiring in 2016 and the 23-year-old a reported target of several clubs. Sepe, who is currently out on loan at Empoli until the end of the season, has impressed in 21 league starts for the Tuscan outfit so far.
