February 27 was International Stand Up to Bullying Day. We did not hear much about this important celebration reminding us of an obnoxious activity which takes place all the time.

Bullying happens everywhere, in all social contexts and at all ages.

Victims of bullying go through a lot of suffering. The greatest damage is done to their personality, which is why if somebody is experiencing bullying they should speak up and confide in someone they trust to seek all possible help.

The thing I find most insipid in bullies is that they have no qualms to harass you but, then, when you stand up to them they are offended.

They say that you are harassing them. They say that you are aggressive toward them. Then they ask their friends to take their side. This shows that bullies are basically cowards, who need help, but project this need onto their victims.

Nobody ought to fear bullies. We ought to be assertive, stand up for our rights and show them we are not afraid of them. At the same, we must also encourage all those who experience bullying to ask for the necessary help.
