Protasov: Romanian Cup winners FC Astra have sacked coach Oleg Protasov after less than five months in the job. The former Soviet Union striker took over from Daniel Isaila in October but led the side to just two wins in nine league matches. Figures released for the financial year ended May 31, 2014 show the club made a pre-tax profit of £0.9m – a considerable improvement on the £49.8 million loss of the previous year. Schieber: Hertha Berlin forward Julian Schieber may miss the rest of the season after damaging cartilage in his left knee, according to reports. The 26-year-old aggravated his knee during training last week, missing the clash with Augsburg at the weekend as tests were carried out. Although he may get away without an operation, he nevertheless faces the prospect of several months on the sidelines.
